Radiology - Ultrasound Technologist FT Days

The Ultrasound Technologist (ARDMS) is a professional who works with a Radiologist to diagnose and treat patients using diagnostic imaging examinations. The Ultrasound Technologist will prepare patients and equipment for radiology procedures, perform the tests and maintain the equipment. Ultrasound Technologists explain procedures to patients, positioning patients and equipment, performing examinations, developing film and maintaining and operating specialized radiologic equipment.

JOB DUTIES

  • Complete the patient intake process, taking patients’ histories, and preparing and educating patients about the imaging procedure
  • Review patients’ charts and Doctors’ notes before the examination, and maintaining patients’ records during and after procedures
  • Position patients and equipment to capture the correct area and produce clear images
  • Monitor patients and ensuring their safety during imaging procedures
  • Calibrate the equipment to ensure clear, usable images are taken of the correct area as specified by the Doctor
  • Log and organize image results, assist with the interpretation of the radiograph results, and consult with Radiologists to determine if other images need to be taken
  • Ensure the proper sterilization and storage of the equipment, maintain radiographic equipment, and report any equipment failures
  • Coordinate with the radiology department to schedule and complete radiographic procedures
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of current ultrasound practices

The Ultrasound Technologist (ARDMS) assumes other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Ability to operate and understand radiographic technology and equipment, required
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and operate heavy machinery without assistance, required
  • Computer skills including MSOffice, Outlook, Meditech, preferred

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate of approved school of Ultrasound Technology, required
  • ARDMS registered or eligible, required
  • BLS certification, required
  • 1 year Ultrasound experience, preferred
