JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

The firm is undergoing a period of growth and as we scale in existing areas and enter new markets there is a need to increase the size of our Finance function.

 

Our work environment is dynamic and constantly evolving and will provide you with exposure to issues at the forefront of the venture capital and tech industry. We are close-knit team that works in a fast-paced environment that requires us to respond quickly and comprehensively to issues that can arise at any point and this role will interface with the Snr VP, Finance, CFO and legal team on a regular basis. This role will provide exposure to an array of tasks and is a great opportunity for development and growth. It is a good fit for someone who enjoys taking on tasks outside of their traditional area of expertise in order to learn new skills and support the team where appropriate.

 

We are looking for a self-starter who can assume ownership of significant pieces of the accounting, reporting, and tax functions. A key component of this role will be interfacing with our external tax advisors to assist with the preparation of filings for federal, state, and local tax jurisdictions for individuals, partnerships (both foreign and domestic), single member LLCs, trusts, and corporations. While this role assumes significant responsibility for the tax function it covers the finance function more broadly. For example, this person will be involved in other projects, including tracking and evaluating investment performance, cash flow management, real estate acquisitions and preparation of financial statements (personal and business entities).

 

DUTIES

 

  • Responsible for preparing financial statements and managing various budgets and forecasts (personal and business entities).
  • Work with the COO and other operations team members to assist in managing the finance aspects of a variety of projects and initiatives.
  • Involvement in cash flow management, including debt financing and restructuring
  • Assisting in managing the financing and budgets associated with various real estate acquisitions, renovations and construction.
  • Working closely with our external tax preparers to plan, execute and review federal and state tax returns, extensions, and quarterly estimates for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts and various other vehicles. This role will also cover tax reporting for complex foreign structures and the forms associated with that reporting. This includes information sourcing, compiling, and review.
  • Assessment and review of Reports of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBARs)
  • Playing a key role in estate planning and administering charitable giving.
  • Assessing tax exposures and ensuring appropriate planning to mitigate potential risks.

     

    REQUIREMENTS

     

  • B.A. or B.S. in Accounting (Masters of Accounting is a plus) CPA certified
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an audit, tax, or accounting role
  • Experience within the venture capital industry and/or high net worth individuals a significant plus
  • Analytical skills and significant attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Ability to maintain the highest standard of confidentiality and professionalism
