The Accounting Manager – AP/AR is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the company’s Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable operations across multiple business units and location
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the end-to-end AP/AR functions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and operational excellence.
- Supervise and mentor an AP/AR team, fostering a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee invoice processing, vendor payments, customer billing, cash applications, collections, and aging analysis across multiple entities and regions.
- Develop, implement, and maintain best-in-class policies, procedures, and internal controls to enhance compliance, scalability, and efficiency.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Procurement, Operations, Merchandising, and Finance teams to optimize procure-to-pay and order-to-cash cycles.
- Analyze and forecast cash flow impacts from AP/AR activities and support treasury management initiatives.
- Prepare and present regular AP/AR reporting packages, KPIs, and variance analyses to senior finance leadership.
- Ensure timely month-end and year-end close activities related to AP/AR, including reconciliations, accruals, and audit support.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors, customers, financial partners, and external auditors.
- Stay current with evolving accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices to recommend strategic enhancements.
- Participate in broader finance initiatives, including system upgrades, M&A integrations, and operational scaling projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with substantial focus on AP/AR operations.
- Bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese is preferred.
- Proven experience in managing accounting teams in a high-volume, multi-location or multi-entity environment.
- Deep understanding of GAAP, internal controls, cash management, and operational accounting best practices.
- Hands-on experience with ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar enterprise systems.
- Proven track record of leading process improvement initiatives and implementing automation within accounting operations.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills across diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets; ability to work with large data sets and financial models.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, complex projects, and deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage a team.
- Experience in retail or supply chain industries is a plus.
