Treasury Accountant

A large professional services firm seeks a Treasury Accountant/Staff Accountant to join their dynamic team. In this role you will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

Responsibilities:

Maintain accurate and updated Client Ledgers by posting payments to their respective matters. Confirm payments are applied to appropriate invoices between fees and costs.

Identify and troubleshoot discrepancies between accounting records, researching and resolving errors by communicating with the client, vendor and or internal department personnel.

Responsible for daily bank deposits and daily reconciliation of those deposits.

Transfer funds between bank accounts on a as needed basis.

Respond to client, attorney and staff inquiries related to accounts receivables and trust balances.

Issue checks as requested.

Prepare general ledger entries and maintain supporting records and files.

Reconcile all balance sheets accounts monthly.

Generate and create reports on client trust accounts, Client AR, and/or Client Payments

Assist Director of Finance and CFO on creation of monthly reports.

Cross train on other functions within the department.

Maintain positive relationships with internal and external clients and consistently promote and model courteous service in a prompt and efficient manner with the recognition that the request serves a client or Firm need.

Safeguard and keep information, observations, or viewpoints regarding Firm and client business matters confidential.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business, required

A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.

A solid understanding of basic accounting principles and their application in daily work tasks.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to perform duties in a manner that minimizes the likelihood of errors occurring and through the method by which work is completed, errors that do occur are identified in the early stages.

Ability to prioritize, multitask and organize workflow as well as a willingness to take the initiative to use these abilities to work collaboratively in meeting deadlines with a sense of urgency.

Possess a proactive attitude and challenges workflows for efficiency and accuracy by analyzing current procedures, available technology, and takes the initiative to recommend and act on changes to those workflows.

Written and oral communication skills necessary to successfully interact with coworkers, vendors, and clients is required.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office with emphasis on Advanced Excel skills.

Experience using Aderant Expert software or other legal firm financial and practice management software preferred, but not required.
