ABOUT EDEN I&R
Eden I&R is a nonprofit organization that plays a vital role in connecting residents to essential health, housing, and human services in Alameda County. Through strong community partnerships, Eden I&R ensures that individuals and families can access critical support systems in times of need.
Since 1976, Eden I&R has been successfully fulfilling its mission of “linking people and resources” by consistently and creatively responding to the community’s changing needs. The agency’s services are the result of collaborations that depend on the work of hundreds of community-based organizations. Because no other centralized source for health, housing, and human services information exists anywhere else in Alameda County, Eden I&R has become a critical resource for thousands of at-risk individuals, such as youth, non-English speakers, the economically disadvantaged, people living with HIV/AIDS, domestic violence survivors, the elderly, disabled, the homeless, and human service agencies seeking services or housing for their clients.
Fulfilling an Important Community Need
Eden I&R, Inc., was incorporated as a non-profit 501(c)(3) agency in January 1976 in response to a community need for a service that would assist people in obtaining information about, as well as gaining access to, community resources. Our skilled information management and referral specialists provide a critical information bridge between individuals in need and human service agencies.
Eden I&R operates 211 – 24 hours a day, 7-days a week, call center.

POSITION OVERVIEW
With direction from the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will provide leadership and overall management for the agency’s programs, policies, personnel, board development, and community relations in alignment with Eden I&R’s mission and values. The Executive Director will be responsible for the organization’s financial health, operational effectiveness, and long-term sustainability.
Eden I&R is at a critical stage in its lifecycle with both challenges and opportunities during the next couple of years. The organization is a well-respected resource in the community providing much needed resources, data, and services. It is embarking on a funded rebranding project that can uplift and communicate its services to those in need and stakeholders throughout the community. At the same time, the organization is facing some challenges due to cuts in government funding and will need to refocus its services that can maximize current funding while seeking new funding opportunities.
Eden I&R/211 has a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Alameda County Sheriff's Office that in the event of a disaster and when the county's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is activated, 211 has a designated seat in the Public Information Officer room (in Dublin) and the expectation is that someone from the agency will be present at the EOC to relay updated information back to 211. This responsibility will have more gravitas as cuts in government funding evolves. In addition to the EOC coverage, all the 211s in the state and country play a similar disaster response role; there are times that our 211 will help other 211s who are dealing with a disaster in their area by handling some of their calls.
Note: If a disaster occurs in Alameda County at any time, the ED may be on call.
