Vice President of Operations– Polymer Compounding Industry
Our client is a manufacturer serving the global plastics industry and looking for an individual to be accountable for the company’s operational activities (across multiple divisions) including manufacturing, quality control, logistics, safety, projects and maintenance. As a senior operations professional and active member of the company’s management team, the role’s main goals are to increase operational efficiencies (by more closely integrating all operational activities) and to accelerate the pace of growth projects as the company is currently expanding its main operations.
The best-suited candidate is a self-starter, sees and seizes opportunities for continuous improvement, and works to deliver results with accountability and integrity.
10+ year’s experience in progressive manufacturing operational roles with a solid track record of having managed, and significantly improved, a non-union plant that manufactured industrial products - preference for a plastics compounder, additives, or specialty chemical product experience.
Successful track record of deploying continuous improvement (Lean and/or Six Sigma) tools to maximize efficiencies and deliver a consistent quality product. Has a history of tweaking internal processes to obtain more measurable and higher levels of operating performance.
Must be able to think holistically about all aspects of operations (sourcing raw materials, scheduling, production, maintenance, projects, warehousing, and logistics/delivery) in order to identify, prioritize and implement resources and actions that support the company’s strategic and financial objectives.
Has significant project management experience in new product launches and CapEx/facility expansion projects. Is willing to be a hands-on leader to drive these key projects to completion, while leveraging internal and external resources.
Significant experience working with industrial equipment as it relates to polymer compounding and extrusion.
Engineering degree and/or MBA preferred.
Understanding of accounting/finance, strong analytical, communication, presentation, interpersonal and project management skills required.
Manage all manufacturing and warehouse sites in Georgia (4 plants and 3 warehouses), and assume responsibility for product quality, OTD, logistics, supply chain, manufacturing cost and maintenance. Closely liaise with the commercial leaders (of the various divisions) to meet customer expectations and delivery schedules.
Additional Requirements significantly beneficial
Specific and proven project management experience particularly around ‘continuous improvement’ (with related tool kit) and ‘capex capacity expansions’ Detailed improvement track record.
