Position Overview

 

Reporting to the CEO the COO will be second in command and will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the firm. The COO will be an integral part of the leadership team and will be a key contributor to making the strategy and vision of the company a reality.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Forge and maintain outstanding relations of trust with shareholders, partners and external authorities, and clients
  • Ensure that the company runs with legality and conformity to established regulations
  • Set strategic goals for each department
  • Revise and formulate policies and promote their implementation
  • Develops, implements, and reviews systems to increase department efficiency and effectiveness while maintaining a high quality of service delivery
  • Maintain a working knowledge significant developments and trends in the Transportation field
  • Assist with the creation and approval of RFPs
  • Sets the standard for culture, values, and professional behavior, always leading by example
  • Develop an annual operating budget for the company that reflects the objectives and goals
  • Develop scorecard KPI’s and metrics
  • Oversees day-to-day operations to drive overall performance; and to achieve the financial goals defined in the budget through implementation and execution
  • Serve as core member of acquisition team by identifying candidate firms, assisting with negotiations, developing integration strategies, and establishing relationships with key members of the acquired firm to promote a successful integration
  • Performs annual reviews by which support for the individual and the individual’s career path are consistently discussed and reinforced
  • Participates in conflict resolution procedures and situations
  • Establishes and communicates corporate policies and ensures that they are uniformly understood and properly interpreted and administered
  • Implement and improve an effective Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Program
  • Maintains a strong loss prevention strategy
  • Retains direct responsibility for selected business development and client maintenance activities
  • Control financial policies and procedures
  • Team up with management to implement business saving and other financial strategies
  • Key point of contact in relationships with major clients, government agencies, and professional societies
  • Manage relationships/agreements with external vendors and clients
  • Suggest and implements improvements for each department
  • Assists in the coordination and resolution of complaints with clients and other agencies, as necessary
  • Performs other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and/or management

 

Qualifications:

  • Utilize various computer programs (Word, Excel, Outlook and scheduling)
  • Proven results as a business leader
  • Experience building high performing teams, including the ability to recognize and cultivate rising talent required
  • Adept at transitioning seamlessly from a strategic level vision to day-to-day tactical operations required
  • Varied experiences and responsibilities in Operations, Finance, and Human Resources strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 10 years management experience
  • Organizes self and workload in an effective and efficient manner
  • Responds and handles stressful situations without compromising service or quality
  • Represents the firm as appropriate at top-level negotiations, discussions, contract signings, and professional and business meetings.
  • Must understand, speak, read, and write in the English language
