Payroll and Human Resource Specialist

HM Cragg has grown rapidly over the last 5 years and is now in need of a full-time HR/Payroll Specialist who can continue to develop best practices and efficiencies as we continue to grow. This is a great opportunity for someone to wear multiple hats, work closely with functional teams and be responsible for a highly visible and important role within the business including being a key contributing member to the Company's culture and engagement team. This role will oversee all HR functions and process payroll for the company with a continuous process improvement focus. Special emphasis on being proactive with HR policies and procedures is critical. An energetic professional who can work independently and enjoys the administrative challenges of wearing multiple hats is desired for this role.

 

Reporting Relationship: This HR/Payroll Specialist reports to the Controller

 

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

Payroll/Benefits

  • Process bi-weekly employee payroll using Paylocity
  • Process employee PTO, bonuses, and commissions
  • Perform other miscellaneous payroll duties including manually reviewing timecards, levies, and other federally-mandated deductions or garnishments
  • Oversee all employee benefit programs including health plans, dental, life, and 401K
  • Provide monthly benefit statement reconciliation
  • Manage the termination process to include COBRA and offboarding
  • Build and maintain a relationship with health and retirement plan providers
  • Provide miscellaneous Paylocity administration to include the setup and archiving of employee records, and maintaining employee records
  • Lead the annual open enrollment process

Compliance

  • Perform annual Non-Discrimination reporting for FSA/HSA
  • Manage Affirmative Action reporting
  • Manage vendor relationships for Work Comp & Drug/Alcohol & Background checks
  • Manage workers compensation including incident reporting, compliance, and investigations
  • Manage state reporting to include Unemployment Insurance and State Tax Systems
  • Manage drug and alcohol process, policy, and incident management and documentation
  • Participate in safety committee activities
  • Conduct employee verifications
  • Prepare the company for growth through proper FMLA compliance and other compliance adherence for companies over 100 FTEs
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance to include annual EEO reporting
  • Maintain employee files

Employee Relations

  • Serve as a point person for employment-related issues and concerns
  • Partner with CorTalent to ensure furthering AAP and EEO efforts
  • Lead onboarding activities with all new employees including offer letter and non-compete preparation
  • Coordinate all onboarding activities including scheduling and documentation
  • Manage the off-boarding process
  • Work directly with Hiring Managers on assigned tasks

Skills/Knowledge

  • Experience processing payroll preferably with a 3rd party software system (ADP, Paylocity, etc.)
  • Attention to detail and accuracy and exceptional organizational skills are required and very important

Posting Qualifications:

  • Associates degree with a Payroll and/or HR focus preferred
  • 3+ years prior experience with Payroll and HR
  • Efficient in using Microsoft Suite of products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is a must
  • Experience with Paylocity is a plus but not required
