Senior Staff Accountant

Position Overview:

The Senior Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for providing accurate and timely processing of accounting transactions and job costing for the company, in particular for the generator divisions of the company. This position will also assist in month end and year end activities along with other special projects as necessary. This position is essential to the overall success of the company and will provide valuable experience and growth for those that wish to continue to advance their corporate accounting career at HM Cragg.

Reporting Relationship: The Senior Staff Accountant reports to the Controller and works closely on a day-to-day basis with other accounting staff.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

Accounting Operations Support

  • Lead the development of job costing and analysis across certain divisions of the company
  • Manage and maintain accounts receivable and cash receipt applications
  • Process customer credit requests and RMA’s in a timely manner
  • Provide escalated collections support for past due receivables
  • Develop and maintain documentation of all key processes related to job costing and accounts receivable
  • Timely and accurate completion of reconciliations for certain balance sheet and key income statement accounts
  • Special projects related to process improvement, analysis, and financial reporting, as identified and needed
  • Other projects as assigned

Generator division accounting support

  • Process accurate invoicing in compliance with GAAP for all generator equipment and service sales
  • Responsible for reconciling freight and startup estimates to actual costs
  • Responsible for reconciling Generac paid claims for startups, warranties and preventative maintenance and closing out corresponding work orders
  • Assist and provide oversight with the registration of startup services, and timely startup and warranty submissions to Generac
  • Responsible for monitoring and periodic sample testing of Generator service invoices to ensure they are completed timely and accurately
  • Responsible for ensuring generator parts inventory is accurate and a physical count is performed on a regular basis

Posting Qualifications:

  • 4 year College degree in accounting
  • 2-4 years prior experience
  • Efficient in using Microsoft Suite of products including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, ERP and CRM software proficiency required
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Communicate effectively with multiple levels of personnel internally and externally.
  • Ability to work in an organized, self-directed manner
