Job Title: Safety & Health Behavioral Based Safety Specialist

Location: Shenandoah Valley, Virginia

About Us: Join our team as a Safety & Health Behavioral Based Safety Specialist at our manufacturing facility in the Shenandoah Valley area. We're seeking professionals who understand Process Safety Management (PSM) and have a strong focus on Behavior-Based Safety. Connect with plant floor employees and help foster a robust safety culture while driving World Class EHS performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and support compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Facilitate EHS compliance inspections and management system audits.
  • Assist the EHS Manager in developing policies, programs, and work instructions aligned with regulations and internal requirements.
  • Coach plant personnel on EHS management system practices.
  • Manage data collection and analysis of EHS metrics, including injury/illness, air, waste, energy, and water.
  • Administer EHS Exchange and other data management systems.
  • Maintain records for government permits and reporting.
  • Lead or participate in EHS projects for energy conservation and continuous improvement.
  • Chair the safety committee.
  • Mentor employees in behavior-based safety observations.
  • Contribute to emergency response and evacuation planning.
  • Participate in job safety analysis and risk assessments.
  • Deliver EHS training programs.
  • Oversee EHS record-keeping.
  • Create and distribute site-level EHS communications.
  • Report Workers Compensation claims.
  • Collaborate with plant leadership on light-duty opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of EHS experience in manufacturing required, with 5+ years overall experience.
  • Strong manufacturing safety background.
  • Proven track record in reducing injuries and enhancing EHS culture.
  • Knowledge of federal and state safety and environmental laws.
  • Effective communication skills across all plant levels.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple priorities and initiatives simultaneously.
