Legal Practice Assistant

A large, established and reputable law firm is seeking to add an experienced Legal Practice Assistant to their team. The ideal candidate will work well independently in a very fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex administrative duties requiring knowledge of legal terminology and legal processes
  • Prepare, edit, and proof contracts, agreements, motions, pleadings, wills, trusts, memos, correspondence and other similar documents and reports
  • File documents in probate/district/state/federal court
  • Schedule and coordinate logistics for meetings and travel
  • Maintain calendars including deadlines and appearances
  • Enter billable time and edit time and pre-bills
  • Process expense reimbursements
  • Answer incoming calls
  • Respond to inquiries for information
  • Prepare documents for shipment and distribute mail
  • Open and maintain client files and organizational documents

Requirements:

  • At least two years of experience as a legal secretary/assistant in a law firm or corporate legal department environment; experience in wills, estates, trusts, and probate preferred
  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and ability to type 50 wpm
  • Highly organized, detail-orientated, proactive with a desire to take ownership as a contributing member of the team
  • Balance competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment, exercising patience and professionalism during stressful situations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
