Senior Accountant – Stamford CT

We are working with a leading developer/contractor with a well-respected nationwide presence that’s looking to build out a new corporate office in the Stamford area. This is an external opportunity for a strong Senior Accountant to join this dynamic, growing team.

The Senior Accountant will report to the Controller and CFO and support the daily accounting activities, the preparation of balance sheets, income statements and statements of cash flow. He or she will also execute budgeting and forecasting and will research GAAP as needed, to resolve complex accounting issues.

A solid understanding of GAAP, proficiency in all MS Office Suites software (strong Excel) and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision is required, as is a commitment to accuracy and timeliness. A background that blends public accounting and industry experience would be ideal and an active CPA would be helpful.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain general ledger, prepare journal entries and support the month-end close process
• Assist with the preparation of supporting schedules, assisting with account reviews
• Perform account reconciliations and ensure accuracy and validity of accounting transactions
• Account and Bank Reconciliations and execute intercompany transactions
• Support forecasting and financial performance review, budgeting and maintaining financial reporting requirements
• Assist with job cost functions and calculate & analyze monthly invoices
• Prepare and process deposits and research GAAP and resolve complex accounting issues

 REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting or Finance
• 5-7 years of professional experience, ideally within a multi-entity environment
• CPA – preferred
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suites, exposure to SQL Queries, VLookUps, Pivot Tables
