Our client is a distribution and retail organization with multiple locations They are a thriving growing company with additional plans for organic and M&A activity.
Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will lead the company’s business, accounting and financial functions, being instrumental in long-term growth objectives of the organization. Will be responsible for day to day accounting operations (accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll), financial analysis of operations, financial plans and policies, accounting practices, financial reporting and the maintenance of fiscal records. The position involves supervision of general accounting team. This individual will have the latitude to select, develop, lead, motivate, coach, and manage his/her direct and indirect reports.
— Manage and fully support the fiscal accounting cycle including the supervision and timely tracking of the monthly close process for company and its related entities, including the preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, and internal reports, including a monthly executive reporting package.
— Prepare full financial statement package for bank at fiscal year-end, including consolidation and relevant footnote disclosures.
— Supervise and review the maintenance of all general ledger account schedules of analysis and supporting research, including Fixed Asset and depreciation schedules, lease accounting, and subsidiary reporting.
— Oversee inventory accounting and reporting.
— Review and report, on a monthly basis, actual performance against budget and prior year, with explanations for material variances.
— Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, accounts receivable, customer credits, monthly AR statements, collections, and payroll. Ensures AP/AR and Payroll (employee and partner compensation) activities are handled timely and according to company policy and procedure.
— Identify ways to improve the quality of the organization. Keep management and ownership aware of opportunities to reduce costs and/or add value, and identify new ways to measure costs. Run special projects (operational and financial), including recommending and implementing process improvements.
— Support and provide financial analysis and budgeting working closely with various department leaders..
— Prepare ad hoc reports; provide guidance, information and assistance to CFO, Operations Teams, and other Leaders as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
— Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance.
— CMA and/or CPA designation strongly desired/preferred.
— 8-10+ years’ experience in Accounting/Finance with 4+ years’ experience in a supervisory capacity.
— Industry experience along with public accounting background a plus.
— Strong knowledge of internal accounting control and procedures.
— Excellent analytical and modeling skills, team-building and managing, excellent technical accounting experience, as well as strong business savvy to be instrumental in growing the company.
— Must possess an effective management style, be capable of assessing situations, and be proactive as part of the core administrative team. This person’s demeanor and level of professionalism should foster respect of management, peers and subordinates alike. Must be highly collaborative with the ability to work in a team environment.
