Fixed Assets Accountant – Charleston SC

We have partnered with a restaurant group in search of a solid Fixed Assets Accountant to join their corporate team in the Charleston SC area. This role reports to the Controller and will manage all fixed assets accounting activity and capitalized asset tracking. Tax accounting experience is not required, but prior exposure to property, sales & use and hospitality tax would be a plus.

  • Analyze, review, and validate asset maintenance transactions and recognize capital activity
  • Recurring activity: property and equipment from restaurant and real estate development & remodel in addition to everyday fixed asset purchases, reviewing capital appropriations to determine taxability of items purchased
  • Corporate and restaurant capital projects: track compilation of project costs into fixed asset general ledger accounts
  • Record fixed asset acquisitions, recognize dispositions in the fixed asset system and reconcile fixed asset ledger to accounting system ledger
  • Liaise with external tax/audit: provide fixed asset schedule, ensure proper coordination
  • Strong ability to utilize MS Excel as well as corporate accounting, FAS and tax software systems

Tax Accounting – preferred experience, not required

  • Research and analyze issues relating to sales and use tax using online research tools
  • Utilize MS Excel to input data, prepare and file sales/use and hospitality tax returns
  • Review and resolve any concerns regarding tax return filings
  • Prepare direct pay permit and exemption certificates for vendors, as requested



  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting
  • 3+ years of corporate accounting experience with 2+ years of fixed assets or sales tax experience
  • Working knowledge of multi-jurisdictional sales and use tax statutes, regulations, and compliance
  • Strong MS Excel and FAS software experience, along with exposure to Sage Intact or other, similar system
