We are seeking an HR business partner to join a construction materials industry leader that’s headquartered in Raleigh with quarry locations in the region and an established Canadian presence. The HR Business Partner will hold responsibility for overseeing the HR function for a 500+ employee business unit and supporting the alignment of corporate and business unit objectives for employees and management.

 

He or she will provide HR support to executives, driving HR strategy throughout the business unit as a change agent and employee champion, lead recruiting and retention initiatives, assessing organizational culture and anticipating needs throughout the group. He or she will communicate internally with corporate leadership team to develop and implement effective solutions for the division.

Responsibilities

 Maintain primary point of contact between corporate leadership and business unit / divisional level managers to consult on strategic business and divisional level issues and all HR implications

 Participate actively in the development of corporate and divisional HR strategies, championing the vision and implementing the strategic plan

 Provide input and guidance regarding divisional restructures, workforce and succession planning and compensation development

 Provide strategic human resource support, conducting periodic meetings with business unit leaders to coach internal change throughout the organization

  • Engagement with field level production crew to senior leadership
  • Analyze and review trends and internal data to develop solutions and implement policies to continue to improve the workplace, providing monthly organizational reporting on findings and results
  • Regularly review key HR statistics, data/trends and best practices, proactively identifying gaps and collaboratively working to develop and implement solutions
  • Utilize supporting data and metrics to assist executives in data-driven HR planning and decision-making

 Lead people and processes and work closely with management and employees to develop and improve work relationships, building morale and increasing productivity and long-term retention

 

Talent Acquisition and Development

- Ensure broad understanding of the business needs, financial climate, and strategic initiatives in order to assist leaders in validating staffing needs

- Match present and future needs through training, coaching and recruitment of high caliber talent

- Proactively identify trends from sources such as exit interviews

- Analyze trends / metrics and help drive the development of policies and programs that provide solutions

Operational Excellence

- Ensure alignment of local practices with global standards and process

- Collaborate with business partners to lead data gathering and define a strategy for contract and union negotiations

 

Culture & Employee Engagement

- Provide direction as a catalyst for driving change and impacting improved employee engagement

- Set realistic, challenging and clear goals for oneself and the team

- Develop and mentor HR talent and manage local HR budgets

- Provide Safety and HR Departments Leadership for both US and Canada.

 

 

Compensation Planning & Conflict Resolution

- Coach/Support leaders with regards to an understanding of Compensation Planning: ensure there is a solid understanding of Compensation / Reward Strategies

- Drive high performance and address under performance in a timely manner

- Provide guidance/ support for complex disciplinary issues and advanced conflict resolution

 

 

Requirements:

 Bachelor’s in HR, Finance/Accounting or Business – required

 Master’s or MBA – highly preferred

 3 – 7+ years of Human Resources experience with a background in consulting a plus

 (Strategic) Certified Professional HR credentials required; ability to obtain within one year of employment

 Advanced and proven multi-disciplinary knowledge of HR management tools with solid technical expertise

 Strategic business and financial acumen is required

 Design and change management skills (strategic problem solving, flexible, innovative problem resolution)

 Advanced HRIS system experience is required as is familiarity with MS Office Suites

 

 

High energy and a collaborative nature, along with utmost discretion is required. This is full-time position (Mon – Fri, 8:00a – 5:30p). Travel is up to 20%, including to Canada
