Our client is seeking a highly motivated Senior Financial Reporting Accountant. This position would aid the Manager of GAAP Reporting with the preparation and documentation for debt compliance filings, quarterly and annual financial statements, and the build out of SEC level financial statements.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a key driver in decreasing the timeline of the U.S. GAAP close from 30 days to 15 days
  • Coordinate and prepare U.S. GAAP consolidated financial statements on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Prepare GAAP Audit consolidated financial statements and footnote disclosures on an annual basis
  • Compiling supporting documentation for the financial statements for auditors
  • Aid in the planning and build out of quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with SEC regulations (Form 10-Q, Form 10-K, financial supplements, etc.). This includes the coordination and preparation of all footnote disclosures, management’s discussion and analysis, and the application of XBRL to the consolidated financial statements as required by the SEC
  • Prepare ad hoc analyses for upper management including peer comparisons on various disclosures in preparation for SEC reporting implementation
  • Partner with applicable parties (General Accounting, Capital and Expense Management, Actuarial, Investment Accounting, IT, etc.) to ensure proper support of general ledger data/applications supporting external financial reporting.
  • Be aware of current accounting pronouncements and developments on SEC Rules and Regulations, including proper presentation of financial statements and footnote disclosures.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant with 2-5 years accounting or finance experience
  • Have a strong understanding on the different components of Form 10-K and US GAAP basis financial statements
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to draft footnotes and MD&A
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy, time management, and deadline adherence
  • General insurance or financial services experience preferred
  • SEC reporting experience a must
