The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will interact closely and support members of the organization’s leadership team. This role is strategic with a hands-on approach to overseeing the financial controls and budgeting, developing efficiencies, improving the processes and procedures of the organization, and fully utilize available technology. The CFO will work in partnership with the leadership team in making strategic business decisions, negotiating contracts, developing and nurturing financial relationships and developing and motivating staff. The CFO will be instrumental in overseeing the entire accounting operation for the organization as well as expense control and maximization of resources.
— Manage the accounting, legal, tax, and treasury functions, and ensure compliance with all state and federal regulatory laws and rules including US GAAP.
— Oversee all aspects of the finance and accounting functions of the organization. Prior experience in system conversions desirable.
— Foster relationships with external business partners, i.e., lenders, vendors, surety and other external professional support associates.
— Work with Leadership to develop and create reports, and other tools to facilitate budgeting and forecasting. Implement software as needed for timely and accurate budgeting and forecasting.
— Provide financial information to assist in formulating the organization’s future strategy and support tactical initiatives, including exploration of various funding strategies/structures to support future growth.
— Monitor financial performance by measuring and analyzing results; coordinate with operations corrective actions to minimize the impact of variances.
— Ensure sound financial strategies are developed and maintained by forecasting capital, facilities, and staffing requirements.
— Track and monitor cash flow and cash forecasting for the organization.
— Benchmarking financial information with industry peer groups to assure “Best in Class” status.
— Consistent communication of the budgeting process through education of department staff on financial issues impacting job budgets.
— Ensure that the organization complies with all legal, regulatory and GAAP requirements.
— Ensure all recordkeeping meets the requirement of audits, banks, surety, state and federal government agencies.
— Assist, as needed, in the placement and /or negotiations of corporate insurance contracts.
— Knowledge of Cybersecurity issues and impact on business flows.
— Provide leadership in the development and continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives.
— Provide the Executive Leadership with advice on the financial implications of business activities as needed.
— Mentor, develop and manage a team which may include controller and staff, managing work allocation, systems training, performance evaluations, and the building of an effective and efficient team dynamic.
— Establish and maintain strong relationships with the Company’s senior leaders and PM’s to identify needs and seek a full range of business solutions.
— Be innovative with the vision for the leadership team, company's process improvements, and best tools for financial reporting and presentations.
— Engage with Captive Insurance for reporting, funding, and projections.
— Communicate, engage and interact with Company's CEO, COO and Leadership Team.
— Coordinate with external advisors regarding the tax strategies for both the Company and owner
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
CFO should be an experienced leader with 15+ years of broad construction and/or manufacturing accounting and finance experience, with a proven track record in procuring and evaluating financial information to make actionable recommendations to executive leadership.
The CFO should have the following specific experience and attributes:
— Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
— Master’s degree in accounting is a plus.
— Certified public accountant designation (CPA), CCIFP or CMA a plus, with at least 15 years’ accounting experience in progressively responsible and relevant positions in the construction or manufacturing industry.
— At least five+ years’ hands-on experience as a Controller or CFO in the construction or manufacturing industry. Design Build Project Delivery background a plus.
— Captive insurance experience is a plus.
— Excellent written and oral communication skills.
— Excellent analytical, abstract reasoning, and organizational skills.
— High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
— Flexibility to represent the company in the community by serving on boards or at industry functions.
— Proficiency in Microsoft products, Timberline, Procore and other industry software.
— Possess a current view of construction industry trends and challenges.
