Our client is a well-established not-for profit-hospital headquartered in the mountains of North Carolina. The hospital includes 222 acute care beds while managing several locations. Apart from the main campus, the hospital manages a comprehensive physician practice network, urgent care locations, and six orthopedic clinics.

We are conducting an exclusive, national search for a driven, passionate and dynamic Hospital Chief Financial Officer to provide enterprise level strategic oversight over hospitals financials, strategic revenue planning, and management systems to ensure that its facilities achieve their goals and mission.

 RESPONSIBILITIES

LEADERSHIP

  • Ability to provide enterprise level oversight over hospital financial and management systems
  •  A proven track record of success as a hospital level CFO or Controller
  • Extensive knowledge of principles and practices associated with the activities of a large and complex healthcare system, institutional management, and administration
  • Ability to manage change
  •  Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, executive leaders, board members, patients, family members and the community
  • Demonstrate the ability and commitment to promote diversity in the workplace
  • Directly supervises employee(s)
  • Sets performance metric and measurement method to illustrate outcomes with organizational performance and goal attainment

 STRATEGIC PLANNING/VISION

  • Ability to understand and negotiate managed care contracts
  • Approaches problem-solving and decision making using a methodical approach and analyzes information to make well thought-out decisions
  •  Determines when and what changes are needed to process improvement, and improved patient care and facilities successful implementation by team members
  • Serves as a mentor to develop change-management skills, including embracing changes that are positive and/or necessary for the department / organization
  • Utilize skill and experience in the healthcare industry to help provide insight and input into future growth

TECHNICAL / FINANCE & ACCOUTING / STRATEGIC REVENUE PLANNING

  • Extensive understanding of the principles, theories, and practices of hospital accounting, auditing, budgeting, and financial management
  • Thorough knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations governing managed care and healthcare reimbursement programs
  • In-depth knowledge laws, rules and regulations governing patient care, treatment, and related services or activities
  • Extensive knowledge of fiscal management, procurement, supply, building and plant maintenance
  • Maintain professional affiliations and enhance professional development to stay current with the latest healthcare trends and developments
  • Work directly with external parties - public accounting firms, legal and other professional groups
  • Strong Revenue Cycle expertise
  • Treasury and cash forecasting experience to help navigate future growth
  • Leads the development of the revenue cycle department(s) budget to assure that budget expectations and program needs are met through appropriate resource allocation.
  • Utilizing available business intelligence, analyzes Revenue Cycle trends and leverages information to develop solutions to optimize RC performance
  • Interacts with senior leadership of Hospital and Physician groups with respect to Revenue Cycle performance
  • Part of the team setting organization wide strategies and objectives focused on improving Revenue Cycle performance

 QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  •  Master’s degree in Health Administration, Accounting, Business Administration or other Healthcare related field
  •  Minimum of 8 years of experience as an administrator over the general accounting, personnel practices and coordination of major administrative functions within a hospital system
  • CPA or other related certification (s) preferred
  • Prior CFO or Controller experience within a hospital required
  • Direct leadership and supervision of various levels of staff
