We are working with several different external CPA firms in the southeast, seeking qualified Tax leadership professionals. These roles range from Tax Manager to Tax Director/Partner level positions in offices in North and South Carolina, Tennessee and several surrounding states. A few of the opportunities are open to 100% remote work, but travel to and from the office and client sites will occasionally be necessary. The Director and Partner level opportunities require extensive client interaction and a strong business development background with proven results growing a market.


Responsibilities include utilizing strong research skills and applying foundational knowledge when reviewing tax issues, meeting with clients and participating in extensive tax planning. Tax professionals must recognize and communicate potential risk, prepare tax accrual workpapers and utilize tax software applications to assist with tax return preparation and review. Leadership professionals will oversee teams of tax professionals and are expected to provide guidance and mentorship working within a team environment. At the Director and Partnership levels, business development expectations may include: setting the strategy, identify tax team to best serve the client, create target list and proactively connect to prospects in the market place. Be market facing at events and presentations. Have a broad knowledge of tax services to be able to present to prospects.



  • Communicate expectations and applicable regulations and authorities with clients while minimizing tax and reporting burdens and ensuring the client service team complies will all firm policies and standards
  • Manage projects by planning the procedures and processes, ensuring the work performed is of the highest quality
  • Outline and coordinate tax engagements, communicating expectations and timeline with reviewers and preparers
  • Conduct detailed reviews and prepare appropriate review notes, raising and resolve any tax issues
  • Meet internal deadlines and exceed client expectations for timely delivery of quality service


  • Identify complex issues and provide research methodology to the engagement team clearly and concisely framing issues and reporting accurate analyses, involving firm specialists when appropriate
  • Gather relevant information for controversy work and document all significant tax positions, clearly, correctly and in accordance with firm policies, ensuring proper documentation is archived
  • Identify consulting opportunities and develop, recommend and implement efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits and decrease current and future tax obligations


  • Manage engagement teams and the ongoing work assignments for managers and junior staff
  • Act as a mentor and coach to staff and provide verbal and written performance feedback


  • CPA licensure – required
  • Bachelor’s in Accounting – required
  • Master’s in Taxation or Accounting is highly preferred
  • 5- 15+ years of experience with corporate taxation, partnerships and pass-through entities, including consolidations and all areas of individual tax planning, particularly for high net-worth individuals
  • Supervisory, coaching and career mentorship experience is required
