Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation provides a way for thousands of individuals and organizations to support the Royal Alexandra Hospital and its number one priority: building better health care for the people of Alberta.

The Foundation funds ground-breaking education, cutting-edge research, next-generation technologies, and facility enhancements. They also support a growing number of specialized centers of health care excellence located at the Royal Alexandra Hospital campus, including the Lois Hole Hospital for Women, the CK Hui Heart Centre, the Orthopedic Surgery Centre, and the Eye Institute of Alberta.

The Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation is looking for the next star to join the organization. Reporting to the Director of Annual Programs and Fulfillment, the Development Officer, Strategic Partnerships & Programs, will be the primary staff member involved in the community-oriented fundraising and third-party events supporting the Lois Hole Hospital, and expand a portfolio of community donors for the Lois Hole Women’s Society. This is a one-year temporary coverage position with a possibility for extension.

As the Development Officer, Strategic Partnerships & Programs, your day could consist of:

  • Working with the Chair of the Women’s Society to oversee the leadership, community volunteers, and supporting their mandate of excellence in patient care at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women
  • Aiding in the management and establishment of roles & responsibilities for all volunteers
  • Providing guidance and support to ensure the leadership volunteer group is empowered to implement the proposed structure for the Women’s Society, as approved by the Foundation.
  • Sustaining current members and setting strategy for growth in monthly donors
  • Working with community donors through third-party fundraising events
  • Maintaining existing relationships with the Foundation’s community stakeholders, including significant and key donor relationships
  • Ensuring multichannel engagement with community donors including coordinating interaction and participation on social media channels
  • Searching out and establishing new community donor, event opportunities, and managing new community partnership requests through a variety of channels

What We Will See on Your Resume:

  • 2 – 4 years’ experience running volunteer programs in a fundraising capacity
  • University Degree / College Diploma in a related field or a combination of equivalent skills, training, and experience
  • Extensive experience working with a wide variety of volunteers across different settings, including leadership and direct fundraising roles
  • High level of understanding and experience with computer programs such as Microsoft Office and Outlook (Knowledge of Raisers’ Edge is considered an asset)
  • Must have a valid provincial drivers’ license and reliable transportation

What We Will Want Demonstrated in the Interview:

  • Evidence of superior relationship-building skills and interpersonal skills to engage stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Thoughtful and confident networker with the ability to translate careful planning into strategic relationships
  • Strong understanding of donor-focused storytelling and third-party best practices in the non-profit sector
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team made up of other staff or volunteers
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently under strict timelines and complete work independently with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity using social media to engage donors and volunteers would be considered an asset
  • Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and travel locally, as required
  • Agreement to a Security Clearance Check and/or Vulnerable Sector Search prior to the start of their employment
  • Adherence to local Covid-19 policies and proof of double-vaccinations will be required
