As part of the Security Operations Team, the Principal DevOps Engineer combines an understanding of both engineering and coding.
- This role involves creating and implementing systems software, analyzing data to improve existing ones, increasing productivity in the development pipeline in support of a fully functional 24x7 Security Operations Center and the infrastructure used to monitor State, Local, Tribal and Territorial (SLTT) government networks.
- This role requires a strong computer science background and a DevOps mindset.

Responsibilities:
- Make recommendations to OSS executive leadership on product capabilities, direction, investments, and divestments of technologies, products, and services
- Create and continually improve CI/CD automation and pipelines
- Identify, design, develop, and document solutions for fault tolerance, performance, capacity, and configuration management for multiple products and services
- Onboarding new data sources into Splunk, analyzing the data for anomalies and trends, and building dashboards highlighting the key trends of the data
- Oversee the deployment of all changes to production systems
- Design, develop, and implement documentation or tools appropriate to the maintenance of application platforms
- Stay current on technology trends and work with various stakeholders and teams to understand our users’ needs and determine how to deliver the most value to customers
- Design and implement a security framework covering infrastructure and applications, processes, and compliance with appropriate regulations and standards
- Provide guidance, training, and support to team members as needed
- Serve as the most senior technical expert on the deployed Development and Data Pipelines
- Participate in Software Quality Assurance (SQA) efforts through the use of unit testing and integration testing and scheduled rollout of new/updated applications
- Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field*
- 8+ years’ experience with DevOps technologies, cloud-based provisioning, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and troubleshooting
- 8+ years’ experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure
- 8+ years’ experience using Linux operating systems
- 5+ years' experience with SPLUNK
- Ability to analyze how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
- Fundamental understanding of agile principles and methodologies (Agile SDLC)
- Proficiency with automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
- Proficiency writing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using both Terraform and CloudFormation
- Experience using modern containerization software including Docker, OpenShift, and Kubernetes
- Ability to communicate effectively with a remote team
- The position is open to U.S. Citizens and requires a favorably adjudicated DHS Fitness Review for Public Trust Positions**
