Java Software Developer - Contract - Hybrid role

Contract Role

Location – Albany, NY - Onsite for first 4 months, then up to 40% each 2 week pay period.

Length: 16 months ~March 2026

Overview:

The selected candidate will be a developer for the Client’s Modernization effort and provide support for maintenance activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide programming duties for related applications.
  • Develop and review detailed documentation for system and program change requirement including detail specifications documents.
  • Assist and provide guidance through all phases of the project management life cycle.
  • Develop unit test plans based on coding changes and user specifications.
  • Conduct unit testing and debugging of all code changes in the development environment
  • Coordinate the migration of all code changes (programs, procedures, etc.) from development environment into user test environment.
  • Use distributed technologies including Java, DB2, XML and XQuery.
  • Provide support, as needed, for defects and issue resolution.
  • Ensure that defects and issues are addressed promptly based on priority.
  • Facilitate and participate in meetings with Client’s customers.
  • Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, with management and users, and team members.

Requirements:

  •  3-5+ years of applicable professional experience
  • Candidate is able to work independently, without assistance. 

Desired Skills:

  • 3+ years of experience with J2EE technologies including JDBC, JSP and XML.
  • 3+ years of experience developing, building, and testing Java EE applications using modern IDE’s, such as Eclipse, Netbeans, or IntelliJ.
  • 2+ years of experience using J2EE frameworks such as Spring or struts.
  • 1+ year of experience writing SQL statements for relational databases.
  • 1+ year of experience in messaging technologies, such as MQ, JMS, Kafka.
  • 1+ year experience developing with HTML, CSS and JavaScript
