Overview: As an Interpreter for Community-Based Integration Services, your role is integral in facilitating effective communication to support participants in their community engagement and employment endeavors. You'll provide language interpretation services, ensuring clear and accurate communication between participants and their community-based activities or workplaces. Your work will involve enabling seamless interactions by bridging language barriers and promoting inclusivity in various settings. Key Responsibilities: Language Interpretation: Provide proficient and accurate language interpretation services during face-to-face interactions between participants and community-based activities or workplaces. Ensure clear and effective communication by accurately conveying spoken language in both directions. Support in Community Settings: Accompany participants to community-based activities, appointments, or employment settings to facilitate effective communication. Assist in interpreting conversations, instructions, and discussions to ensure the participant's understanding and integration. Cultural Understanding: Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and understanding while interpreting to ensure accurate representation and conveyance of cultural nuances during interactions. Accessibility and Inclusivity: Ensure that language barriers do not hinder participants' full engagement in community-based activities or employment. Advocate for inclusive practices and support participants in accessing resources and opportunities within their community. Confidentiality and Professionalism: Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism in all interpreted interactions, respecting the privacy of both participants and community members involved. Requirements: Minimum 18 years of age Complete State/Federal Criminal Background checks, Child Abuse Registry Information (CARI) checks, and Central Registry checks Proficient in reading and speaking the language being interpreted; -OR- For sign language interpretation – successfully passed the New Jersey Division of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DDHH) Screening OR Certified by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf.
