Overview: The Supported Employment Specialist holds a pivotal role in championing the Division's vision of fostering inclusive employment opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. This position is dedicated to supporting and advocating for individuals to access competitive wages, equitable work conditions, and comprehensive career development on par with their co-workers. Key Responsibilities: Individual Assessment and Planning: Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand the skills, strengths, interests, and support needs of individuals with developmental disabilities. Collaborate closely to develop personalized employment plans focused on their career aspirations. Job Development and Placement: Forge connections with employers and businesses to identify, secure, and tailor suitable employment opportunities that align with the abilities and ambitions of the individuals. Advocate for inclusive hiring practices and promote diversity in the workplace. Training and Skill Enhancement: Provide guidance and support in developing job search skills, crafting resumes, preparing for interviews, and honing workplace etiquette. Offer ongoing training to enhance job-related skills and promote professional growth. Advocacy and Support Services: Serve as a liaison between individuals and employers, advocating for reasonable accommodations and necessary supports in the workplace. Foster a supportive environment by collaborating with co-workers, employers, and community resources. Monitoring and Follow-Up: Continuously monitor and evaluate employment placements to ensure job retention, job satisfaction, and career advancement. Maintain regular follow-ups with both employees and employers to address any concerns and provide ongoing support. Requirements Minimum 20 years of age Complete State/Federal Criminal Background checks, Child Abuse Registry Information (CARI) checks, and Central Registry checks Have an Associate’s degree or higher in a related field from an accredited college or university or have a high school diploma or equivalent with three (3) years of related experience Be familiar with the demands and expectations of business and industry.
