JOB TITLE: Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing
COMPAN BACKGROUND: A growing, private equity backed niche market leader in technical fabrics and associated ventilation products based in Indiana. The Company sells to a variety of industries including mining, agriculture, airport authorities, airlines, industrial manufacturers and construction. The company currently generates approximately $35MM in revenue with growth expected to continue.
OVERALL OBJECTIVES: The Company is seeking a Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing with demonstrated sales leadership working in or selling to the industrial manufacturing or similar industry. The position will report to the CEO and will have overall responsibility for the company’s commercial operations, sales and marketing, to take advantage of a diverse customer base.
The Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing will be a key player in moving the company to the next level and have responsibility for improving existing relationships, building new relationships and creating brand awareness/visibility of the products. He/she will be capable of leading a sales organization while managing multiple channels.
Evaluate the current information on the existing customer portfolio and conduct market analysis and gather competitive data to define the markets and their growth potential. Identify new and emerging tangential market opportunities to leverage the company’s manufacturing capabilities.
Develop and implement sales strategies that result in increased sales revenue while building on the company’s current strengths and capabilities to achieve maximum profitability and sustainability.
MAJOR ISSUES /GOALS: Provide leadership, strategic direction, and motivation strategy for long term growth.
Create a well-focused sales and marketing strategy and corresponding action plan that is competitive and best meets the Client’s needs in today’s marketplace.
Must have demonstrated experience as top sales manager in building new channels of distribution.
Maintain and further develop current relationships with major clients, via aggressive marketing plans as well as develop new customers throughout the Americas.
Provide hands-on management to the sales and marketing functions to include recruitment, training and management of the sales team.
SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE: The successful candidate will likely have a minimum of 7-10 years of sales management experience, with recent experience as an SVP or Head of Sales, in an industrial manufacturing organization with experience selling to OEM’s, municipalities, distributors and end-users.
Demonstrated experience working in a sales management role in an organization less than $50MM where a more hands-on, tactical approach was required.
Demonstrated experience in formulating and implementing short and long term sales strategies, utilizing strong analytical and forecasting skills.
Must have experience in implementing a solutions based selling approach, working in partnership with clients to understand their needs.
Demonstrated experience in coaching and mentoring a sales team to encourage growth and the development of leadership qualities of key employees in the organization.
Excellent communication and presentation skills that lend themselves to long term relationship development.
A team player who thrives in collaborative environments.
Experience with CRM systems. Salesforce is a definite plus.
BS degree or equivalent professional experience.
TRAVEL: Approximately 50% travel. Must be able to spend 1 week per month at corporate headquarters in Indiana
