JOB TITLE: Managing Director

COMPANY BACKGROUND: Entrepreneurial, privately held, inventive graphic solutions company that specializes in art curation, design, architectural installations, custom furniture, environmental graphics, custom fabrication & more. Company works with a variety of clients including brands, major corporations, public entities, museums, agencies, developers, architects, and designers.

OVERALL OBJECTIVES: The Managing Director will work closely with the CEO and will ensure profitability of the organization through oversight of the P&L, day-to-day operations, and project management. The Managing Director will design, test and implement processes, procedures and KPI’s in a creatively driven environment that will improve productivity, efficiency, and quality of projects and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. Will implement effective processes to ensure cost controls are appropriately installed and managed to improve ROI. Support sales process by providing data and insight into pricing, and current project pipelines and timelines. The Managing Director will have the ultimate responsibility of driving revenue through the company. The successful candidate will act as the company’s ombudsman and possess an entrepreneurial spirit and have a proven record of high impact, high value successes designing and executing growth and transformational initiatives.

MAJOR ISSUES/GOALS: Oversee all projects from bid proposal through execution, partnering with several other cross functional teams to develop a world class product .

Drive close collaboration with internal team leaders including but not limited to sales, design, engineering, finance, fabrication and project management and define operational processes and workflow as teams and project pipelines grow.

Proactively identify areas of needed improvement or efficiency and work collaboratively with appropriate departments to create solutions.

Quickly develop an in-depth understanding of the company’s overall strategic direction. Understand the cost structure, estimating procedures and financial implications and develop ROI analysis on a project by project basis. Develop and lead a margin and profitability initiative coordinating with the financial team

Identify opportunities to maximize efficiencies, get the best out of consistencies of the workplace and identify cost saving and cost avoidance opportunities.

Provide coaching and mentoring to enhance the development of leadership qualities of key employees within the organization.

Effectively communicate with the highest levels of company leadership and develop the respect of the leadership team through interaction and performance.

Cultivate a high level of trust across the spectrum of company employees.

Possess strong communication skills to build partnerships with internal teams and become a “sounding board” for the leadership team.

Exemplify the company’s values and culture at all times, following the highest ethical standards in all activities undertaken.

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 10 years of experience, with recent experience in leading operations/project management with a successful track record of leading multiple complex projects at the same time and achieving profitability on a project by project basis.

Must have demonstrated experience in commercial architecture, design & build firms, experiential design, space planning, project management, , building construction, set fabrication or related industry.

Demonstrated experience in creating, implementing and monitoring operational processes and procedures to enhance organizational growth and stability.

Proven fiscal accountability and responsibility on projects. Ability to balance design while adhering to budgets and appreciation for return on investment.

Proven leadership ability to work across functions, with clients, architects, contractors and internally, to coordinate and deliver complex projects

Exceptional communication skills – written, presentations, and oral – for both strategic and tactical client interactions

Demonstrated intellectual grasp of problem-solving approaches through deductive and inductive reasoning

Ability to effectively identify and solve problems and conflicts.

Ability to provide excellent client service.

Strong leadership, organization, communication and relationship management skills.

COMPENSATION RANGE: Compensation is commensurate with demonstrated experience.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field

MBA or Masters preferred.
