Our client, a leading Oil & Gas services company, is seeking a Junior Payroll & HR Administrator to join their team. This role is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional looking to build expertise in U.S. payroll administration and HR support. You will work closely with the Payroll and HR team to ensure employees are compensated accurately and in compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in processing payroll for U.S.-based employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Support payroll activities such as new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and bonuses.
- Learn to use systems like Timeco and Ceridian to assist with time tracking, leave management, and employee records.
- Maintain and update employee records with guidance from senior team members.
- Help prepare employment letters and other HR documentation.
- Assist in reviewing field bonus reports and reconciling payroll-related data.
- Track and manage employee vacation and sick leave balances.
- Support the administration of group benefits programs, providing assistance to employees with questions.
- Collaborate with the Health & Safety team to assist with WCB (Workers' Compensation Board) reporting and claims for U.S. operations.
- Learn to calculate taxable benefits and support year-end payroll reporting.
- Provide administrative support to the HR and Payroll team as needed.
- Adhere to company Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and quality system requirements.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary certificate or coursework in Payroll, Human Resources, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of experience in payroll or HR administration; internships or co-op experience will be considered.
- Basic knowledge of U.S. payroll systems and regulations (training will be provided).
- Familiarity with payroll software (e.g., Ceridian, Timeco) is an asset but not required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
