Our client is a privately-held Iowa-based Company that produces and distributes an array of proprietary, value-added blends and ingredient products for the food, dairy, tortilla, bakery, and other specialty markets. They have a new opportunity for a QA Technician at their plant in southern California.
This position is a salaried position reporting directly to the plant manager.
Reports directly to the site Plant Manager and indirectly to the Vice President of Operations and includes these accountabilities:
Perform with operations, engineering and purchasing department to resolve supplier quality issues with raw materials.
Record QA test data and observations.
Organize and summarize test results and prepare related reports including statistical studies to assess cable conformance to requirements.
Participate with disposition team for non-conforming product as making proper transfers out of disposition areas.
Develop and conduct training with Quality Technicians regarding testing methods and interpretation of test results.
Execute monthly safety audits and log trouble reports as necessary.
Convey raw material and product quality issues to management.
Perform actions to resolve issues and implement corrective measures.
Maintain working knowledge of all instruments used for routing and non-routine sample testing and troubleshooting.
Monitor equipment performance using aseptic technique and oversee addition of active ingredients in compounding.
Direct other departments to ensure work is commensurate to standards, acceptance criteria and general quality policies.
Conduct timely root cause analysis and enforce improvements to process controls.
Perform with factory technical team to ensure bulk production matches approved terms & conditions of buyers.
Ensure product evaluation complies with fit performance, grading, workmanship & technical viability.
Resolve problems in conjunction with plant managers, production and engineering personnel.
SQF Coordinator Certification; back up in the absence of the Quality Administrator.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Experience in food industry QA and/or quality control laboratory management is preferred.
Management experience is required, preferably in a quality lab.
HACCP certification and SQF Practitioner certification is strongly preferred.
Resourceful problem solver who takes the initiative in addressing challenging issues.
Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as a team member who is approachable and personable.
Excellent time management skills, adept at managing multiple priorities.
Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required, comparable experience is acceptable.
