Position overview:
We’re seeking a self-starter, driven Plant Controller to join our dynamic Americas Finance Team.
The Controller plays a critical role in overseeing and optimizing financial operations within our North American Manufacturing operation in Wood Dale, Illinois. They are responsible for monitoring costs, managing budgets, analyzing financial data, and providing insights to support decision-making processes. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of both financial principles and manufacturing processes.
Main responsibilities:
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
o Prepare and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for the manufacturing department.
o Provide insightful analysis of financial performance, highlighting trends, opportunities, and risks.
• Analyze and report on manufacturing costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead expenses.
o Calculate and maintain standard costs for products and services based on input from various departments.
o Prepare cost estimates for new products, projects, and contract bids to support pricing decisions.
o Monitor and analyze cost variances, investigating discrepancies and implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making processes within the manufacturing department.
o Evaluate capital investment projects and provide financial justification for investment decisions.
• Collaborate with manufacturing management to develop bi-weekly forecast, quarterly reforecast, and annual budget.
o Monitor budget performance and provide recommendations for adjustments as needed.
o Conduct variance analysis to explain differences between budgeted and actual results.
• Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations and policies.
o Conduct regular audits to assess compliance with internal controls and identify areas for improvement.
• Develop and maintain inventory costing methods, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
o Reconcile inventory records with physical counts, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
o Analyze inventory turnover rates and obsolete inventory to optimize inventory levels and minimize carrying costs.
• Identify and drive process improvements, including the creation and refinement of standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, and Excel Dashboards.

Skills and Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
· Five (5) years or greater of proven experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment
· Excellent communication, collaboration and presentation skills to train, persuade, and lead change at various levels of the organizational structure
· Demonstrated knowledge of general accounting principles and practices
· ERP System knowledge required; Epicor and NetSuite a plus
· Proficient with MS Office 365 - Outlook, Word, and higher level Excel functions (pivot tables, v-look up, graphing, etc.)
