The Safety Manager plays a critical role in fostering a culture of safety while ensuring compliance with all applicable health, environmental, and safety regulations. This position leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety programs that support our mission of responsible reuse, repair, and recycling of electronic equipment. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with a deep understanding of regulatory compliance, excellent communication skills, and the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and continuously improve the QEHS (Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety) Management System, ensuring alignment with industry regulations and company standards.

  • Conduct and participate in internal audits across all facilities, reporting findings and presenting recommendations to leadership.

  • Analyze safety performance and recommend tools, protocols, or procedural changes to drive improvement.

  • Develop and implement standardized operating procedures that support company-wide safety initiatives.

  • Collaborate with departments company-wide (Operations, HR, Logistics, Sales, Administration) to promote safety best practices and ensure corrective actions are taken for identified hazards.

  • Oversee and document compliance-related activities, including:

    • Non-conformity reports

    • Corrective action plans

    • Emergency drills

    • Equipment condition assessments

    • Facility inspections

    • Workplace injury and incident investigations

    • SDS documentation

    • Forklift certifications

    • Employee safety training

  • Manage Workers' Compensation claims, investigations, and reporting.

  • Lead the internal Safety Committee, providing regular communication and updates on safety performance and initiatives.

  • Support environmental compliance efforts related to universal waste, hazardous materials, stormwater, electronics, and solid waste—ensuring all permits and reports meet federal, state, and local regulations.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) or regulatory compliance roles.

  • Proven ability to balance regulatory compliance with business operations.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage all levels of the organization.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and a commitment to continuous improvement.

  • Experience working in dynamic, fast-paced environments focused on operational excellence.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated leadership and team collaboration skills.

  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and Excel-based data analysis skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with attention to both detail and strategic impact.

  • Experience with material processing systems (e.g., shredders, conveyors, air handling, bailing, heavy equipment) is a plus.
