Position Summary: To assist in the learning process in assigned areas of study, to perform a variety of clerical and supportive tasks for instructional personnel and perform related work as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:
-Assist instructional personnel with the development and presentation of learning materials and instructional exercise

-Assume responsibility for continued professional growth to fully support educational programming

-Work with students individually or in small groups, as directed by the supervising teacher

-Assist in maintaining the classroom in a functional, attractive and orderly environment (i.e. bulletin board, displays, posters, etc.)

-Assist the teacher in complying with all requirements and objectives in compliance with the state and school board requirements

-Re-enforce behavioral expectations as directed by the classroom teacher

-Escort, Supervise and assist students in various settings throughout the building including but not limited to cafeteria, recess and general/special classrooms including arrival and dismissal times

-Manage discipline problems in accordance with administrative regulations, school board policies and legal requirements

-Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all matters pertaining to students and personnel

-Demonstrate effective organizational skills, time management, and flexibility in order to meet staff and students’ needs

-Attend work on a regular basis, arrives at school on time; prepared to assist with the classroom

-Establish a positive rapport with staff, students, and families

-Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the program coordinator, and /or classroom teacher

 

Computer Skills: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)

 

Education and/or Experience
-
Associate of Applied Science in Paraprofessional Education

-Hold a valid state license issued by Georgia Professional Standards Commission

-Pass the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment
-1-year related experience

The individual must demonstrate the following:
-Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
-Strong work ethic and professional demeanor
-Effective time management and organizational skills
-Perform multiple tasks efficiently and accurately
-Ability to remain adaptable and flexible
-Be willing to travel
-Must pass all pre-employment testing
