Job Title: Managing Director – Software (B2B)
Location: San Francisco, CA
Overview:
We are a leading middle-market private equity fund, and we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Managing Director to join our business development team. This role will focus on originating transactions in the software space. The candidate should have a good network of founders and CEOs of bootstrapped companies. The ideal candidate will leverage their extensive industry expertise and network to drive growth and deliver exceptional value to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development:
- Identify and cultivate relationships with founders and CEOs of bootstrapped B2B software companies.
- Develop and execute strategies to originate majority equity investments
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of potential clients through networking, conferences, and industry events.
Client Advisory:
- Facilitate investment transactions
- Advise clients on strategic alternatives, including mergers and acquisitions, spinouts and recapitalizations.
- Provide market insights and strategic guidance tailored to the unique challenges of B2B software companies.
- Establish and sustain trusted advisor relationships with key decision-makers.
Transaction Execution:
- Lead and oversee the entire deal lifecycle, from initial pitch through close.
- Collaborate with internal teams to perform financial analysis, valuations, and due diligence.
- Ensure timely and accurate execution of client deliverables, maintaining the highest standard of quality.
Team Leadership:
- Mentor and manage junior team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- Partner with other Managing Directors and team leaders to support firm-wide growth initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10–15 years of experience in investment banking, corporate development, private equity, or a related field, with a focus on B2B software companies.
- Strong track record of originating and closing transactions in the middle market.
- Deep knowledge of the software sector, including market dynamics, valuation trends, and strategic drivers.
- Established network of founders, CEOs, and other key stakeholders within the B2B software space, particularly in bootstrapped organizations.
- Exceptional financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop teams.
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or other advanced degrees preferred.
