We are retained by a leading Private Equity firm specializing in the acquisition and growth of high-potential Infrastructure Software and B2B SaaS companies. We are committed to operational excellence and providing the capital and expertise necessary to accelerate market leadership.

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly networked Managing Director, Business Development to lead our deal origination efforts. This critical role will focus on building and maintaining deep relationships within the investment banking and software ecosystem to identify, source, and evaluate proprietary and highly attractive investment opportunities that align with our specific software mandates. The ideal candidate will have a distinguished career in Technology Investment Banking, a robust understanding of the infrastructure software landscape, and a proven track record of cultivating strategic relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deal Sourcing & Origination:

    • Actively source and qualify new platform and add-on investment opportunities, with a primary focus on proprietary and differentiated deal flow in the infrastructure software space.

    • Systematically build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including Managing Directors and Senior Bankers at investment banks, corporate development teams, and other intermediaries.

    • Develop and execute a strategic outreach plan to cover target sub-sectors and themes within software.

  • Relationship Management:

    • Serve as a primary, high-level point of contact for the investment banking community, ensuring the firm is a top-of-mind partner for relevant M&A processes.

    • Represent the firm at industry conferences and networking events, acting as an ambassador for the firm's brand and investment thesis.

  • Initial Deal Evaluation:

    • Conduct preliminary screening and qualitative assessment of potential opportunities to determine fit with the firm’s investment criteria (e.g., sector, size, growth profile).

    • Articulate the firm's value proposition to potential sellers and intermediaries, clearly demonstrating the firm's operational expertise.

  • Internal Collaboration:

    • Work closely with the Investment and Operating Teams to refine investment theses, analyze market trends, and prioritize sourcing efforts.

    • Maintain and manage the firm's proprietary CRM/database for all deal sourcing and relationship activity.

?? Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 10-15 years of professional experience, with a significant portion spent as a Managing Director or Senior Vice President in a Technology Investment Banking or equivalent role (e.g., M&A) at a reputable institution.

  • Demonstrated experience in deal execution and a deep understanding of the M&A process.

  • Proven ability to build and monetize a vast professional network in the technology and financial sectors.

Domain Expertise

  • Deep, functional knowledge of the Infrastructure Software ecosystem (e.g., Cloud Infrastructure, DevOps, Data Management, Cybersecurity, IT Operations Management, Networking).

  • Thorough understanding of the private equity business model and the criteria that drive successful software investments.

  • Strong financial acumen, including the ability to quickly assess the financial profile and growth potential of target companies.
