Business Intelligence analyst

HERS Advisors is seeking a Business Intelligence analyst to join a respected hospital system in the Los Angeles area. The right candidate will have strong analytics skills pertaining to dealing with health data.  The position is permanent with a competitive salary and a hybrid onsite requirement to the South Bay area of Los Angeles. The Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst uses data modeling, business analysis, and technology to transform high volumes of complex data into advanced analytic solutions including not limited to population health, cost accounting, quality, supply chain management and business related data. This position is expected to have experience in Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) tools like Cerner HealtheIntent or others.

This is a unique opportunity for a motivated individual to work with key executives and physicians to provide business intelligence and analytics needed to achieve our health system goals and improve the health of our members.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads dataset design, build, and implementation to support health system wide analytics and business intelligence.
  • Oversees healthcare data extraction, manipulation, and structuring utilizing tables within different data sources and with different products
  • Translates data into actionable dashboards and reports using visualization tools and technology and present to various audiences.
  • Responsible for providing data visualizations (reports and dashboards) to support stakeholder requirements
  • Analyzes existing reports to improve performance and develops new reports using best data visualization practices and processes
  • Assembles large and multiple complex data sets and sources to meet functional/non-functional business requirements
  • Partners with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams along with data analysts and data scientists to develop data visualizations that provide business insights
  • Utilizes available tools to automate and expedite accurate, complete, and efficient reporting.
  • Collaborates at a leadership level within a context of a multidisciplinary team of both internal and external stakeholders, identifies opportunities to enhance member outcomes through collaborative initiatives that address population health needs
  • Leads query development against clinical/population health schemas, providing timely, and accurate reporting to physicians, clinical staff, and administrative stakeholders.
  • Designs and implements custom datasets for long term retention of relevant data extracted from population health database.
  • Assists enterprise resources in training their personnel and preparing user reference materials as necessary.
  • Develops reporting to make data more meaningful for business and clinical initiatives.
  • Collaborates on data quality conditions and monitoring with subject matter expert

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in the field of Computer Science, Analytics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Business or related field required. Master’s degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Business or other technical fields desirable.
    •  

      Experience:

      • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience or equivalent with data visualization practices, principles, and technologies in a healthcare or similar environment.
      • Experience and proficient with the following tools:
        • SQL
        • Tableau
        • Power BI
        • Business Objects
        • Experience with data visualization methods and ability to tell a story with data
        • Strong communication, interpersonal and critical thinking skills are required.
          • At least one (1) year of Cerner Command Language (CCL) preferred
          • At least one (1) year of healthcare revenue cycle preferred
          • At least one (1) year of healthcare quality measures preferred
            • Knowledge of subject matters such as process optimization, clinical workflows, population health, supply chain management, revenue cycle, and readmissions is preferred.
            • Experience in analyzing user specifications for detailed report writing and Cerner application design with ability to troubleshoot and test with Cerner applications is preferred.
              • Experience in building processes to support data transformation, data sets, data structures, metadata, dependency, and being able to manipulate business objects universe
