Litigation Paralegal (West LA)

HERS Advisors has partnered with a preeminent midsize law firm in Los Angeles, who has been repeatedly recognized on the Los Angeles Business Journal’s Top Law Firms list. The firm is looking for a Litigation Paralegal who will play a critical role in the firm’s Patent Litigation department, working directly with department attorneys and personnel. The position is in their West Los Angeles, California office (hybrid). Firm boosts collegial and inclusive environment!

Responsibilities for Litigation Paralegal:

  • Assist with the management of the firm’s large Patent Litigation caseload in Federal, Appellate, Federal Circuit, and International Trade Commission courts.
  • Assist senior paralegals with trial preparation for local and out-of-state trials, attend trial, and manage post-trial breakdowns, including setting up war rooms, reserving equipment vendors, accommodations, catering, and negotiating contracts. Manage logistics with clients, witnesses, experts, and graphics teams.
  • Perform paralegal tasks such as TOC’s, TOA’s, legal research, exhibit lists, case binders, deposition designations, trial disclosures and demonstratives, E-filing, etc.
  • Coordinate receiving, sending and processing document productions including source codes, privilege logs, physical productions and redaction requests.
  • Extensively review and research court rules and procedures to conform to their specific guidelines.
  • Utilize Boolean search operators in eDiscovery software to assist attorneys with document review and/or creation of exhibit lists.
  • Knowledge and/or familiarity with Everlaw a plus.
  • Assist senior paralegals with monitoring the work of junior and entry-level paralegals and legal assistants in relation to case management.
  • Track all billable and non-billable time into the Firm’s timekeeping program daily.

Requirements for Litigation Paralegal:

  • BA or BS preferred but not required with a combination of lengthy experience as a paralegal and a paralegal certificate from an ABA approved program.
  • 5+ years of experience working as a litigation paralegal.
  • Experience in Federal, Appellate, Federal Circuit, and International Trade Commission Courts, strongly preferred.
  • Patent Litigation experience/ focus strongly preferred, but not a necessary skillset; firm will train the right candidate.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the state and out-of-state to assist with trial prep, trial, and post-trial breakdowns.
