Litigation Secretary
Location: Midtown Manhattan
This position will assist lawyers in all aspects of litigation practice including preparation of pleadings, assistance with discovery, document review and organization, and preparation and attendance at hearings and trials.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
- Prioritizing and preparing detailed correspondence, legal documents forms and presentations.
- Transcription of dictations (emails, correspondence, documents etc.).
- Interacting professionally with members of the department and external contacts.
- Answering, screening, and placing calls; communicating messages to appropriate parties.
- File maintenance; electronic and hard copy files of large, document-intensive cases.
- Electronic Court Filings/Docket Reports/Downloading Pleadings.
- Extensive knowledge of e-Filing procedures and managing dockets, as well as a strong working knowledge of state and federal rules and procedures.
- Litigation calendaring entries
- Time Entries
Knowledge, Skills And Experience:
- A couple of years’ experience performing traditional litigation secretary functions.
- Proficient with legal research and document retention databases for performing fact and legal research and effective management of complex evidence and case files.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite applications.
- Familiar with manipulating pdf files in Adobe.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communications skills
- Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize project requirements.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment with attorneys, paralegals and other staff members.
