Kelly & Creaghan LLP is a local CPA pre-approved Review Stream firm in Calgary, seeking a recent CPA graduate and articling position for our diverse clientele. Our Pre-approved review stream offers a candidate review hours for individuals with educational requirements met while fulfilling the term of service requirements.

 

Our clients range from local, owner-managed enterprises in various industry sectors such as real estate, professionals, high-tech, manufacturing & distribution, hospitality, and service industry, senior executives of major Canadian companies, as well as investigative and forensic services. Our office is fully electronic and works a 4-day week in the summer months. This is a full-time position.

 

Your primary responsibilities will include

 

 

  • We are currently recruiting an entry level CPA position and 2024-2026 CFE candidates to join our practice. The role of the CPA is to work in our general practice and liaise with Partners, clients, and staff in completing assurance, Tax, and special engagements for clients.
  • Technical Competence: Continuing to develop your technical knowledge and skills in all areas of general practice accounting and tax, with opportunity to develop special skill in investigative and forensic accounting.
  • The ability to work with diverse clients is required with special emphasis on:
    • Completing and/or reviewing client engagements, assurance, accounting, and tax
    • Understanding and awareness of changes to various accounting and tax rules
    • Acquire knowledge of the client’s business and industry and communications to clients on problem solving issues and opportunities.
    • Business Development and Client Support: Provide ongoing support to existing clients.
    • Good communication skills, both verbal and written

      A successful candidate must possess the following capabilities and competencies:

  • Acquired a Chartered Professional Accountant designation or recently successful CFE writer.
  • Demonstrates accounting skill and aptitude with experience in Tax and accounting standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE)
    • Works well in a team-based organization an asset
    • Ability to manage and prioritize work activities.
      • Ability to develop solid and effective relationships within a firm and gain the trust and respect of co-workers and clients.
    • Ability to supervise junior staff and act as mentor.
    • Experience working with accounting and tax software such as CaseWare is beneficial.
    • Demonstrates consistency in achieving results.
