Your New Employer

PCRE Group is a dynamic, privately held real estate developer in British Columbia, Alberta, and Washington State. While PCRE Group has been actively developing commercial, retail, and residential real estate since 2003, its principals have been leaders in the industry for over 35 years. Historically a merchant builder, PCRE Group has recently expanded its scope to also include the developing and holding of income producing properties and an extensive pipeline of projects in various stages of development.

PCRE’s project pipeline includes sites on the Sunshine Coast and in Squamish and the group is developing a seaside 250+ acre master planned community called Royal Bay on Vancouver Island. This mixed-use, master-planned community will be home to over 7,000 residents and numerous businesses, with the build out of up to 2,800 homes, as well as service retail, business, restaurants and cafes, open spaces and parks, trail connections, and other public amenities.

As PCRE begins its next phase of growth, a new opportunity is available to join this dedicated team of real estate professionals.

Your New Role

As Senior Project Accountant, you will handle full cycle accounting for several different projects, assist in the preparation and coordination of quarterly investor reporting packages, and help with monthly updates to proforma forecasts. You will coordinate monthly budget reviews by updating actuals, working with development and construction managers to update, coordinate, and document follow-up and action items. Additionally, you will monitor project cash requirements, prepare and act as the point of contact for project capital calls, distributions, loan draws, and repayments. Documenting, monitoring, and liaising with interdepartmental teams regarding project milestones (LC tracking and release, warranty periods, deposits, and prepaids) will be essential. You will also implement and manage internal controls, business processes, and procedures for project accounting. Liaising between accounting divisions, finance, marketing, construction, and development departments will be key to ensuring timely completion and accuracy of interdepartmental tasks (job cost, equity and bank financing, budget reviews, proper approvals). Supporting senior management with annual budgets and quarterly reporting, and assisting with special projects, assignments, and ad hoc requests will also be part of your responsibilities.

What Sets You Apart

To excel in this role, you must have a professional accounting designation (CPA) and a bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent. A minimum of three years of full cycle accounting experience is required, with a preference for those with experience in construction or real estate. You should possess demonstrated analytical skills and advanced proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Sage Intacct is a great asset. Strong interpersonal skills, including professionalism, friendliness, and courtesy, are crucial, along with strong verbal and written communication skills. The ability to prioritize and complete projects within tight deadlines, demonstrated time management and planning skills, and being detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task are also essential qualities.

Importantly, we are seeking a candidate with a growth mindset who is focused on professional development and continuous learning. This means you should be committed to enhancing your skills, seeking out new challenges, and embracing opportunities for growth both within your role and the company. We value individuals who are proactive in their professional development, always looking to improve their knowledge and capabilities to contribute effectively to the team and the organization’s success.
