Swordfern Management is the owner-operated management branch of RCG Group. Since 2004, Swordfern’s focused in-house team has been providing a personalized and economic service to our client-tenants and best in class physical maintenance and operations. Together, our team of accounting, management, maintenance and leasing staff collaborate cohesively to provide full-service management of RCG Group’s diversified real estate portfolio.

Your New Role

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Director, Real Estate Service (DRES) will be responsible for overseeing Property, Leasing and Asset Management across the entire commercial portfolio (approx. 3m sqft). The DRES will be a key member of the Leadership Team and will work collaboratively with the Director, Finance and Operations and SVP Real Estate and Development to achieve operational and financial targets and exceptional tenant-client experience and team engagement.

The DRES will lead the in-house team (Operations Superintendent and Property and Leasing Administrator) and oversee Third-Party Property/Facility Management service providers in Alberta and California. This includes portfolio risk-management, capital planning, property assessment/tax review management and assisting with acquisition due diligence. The DRES will work to enhance existing systems and processes as well as identify strategies for increasing yield through revenue growth and disciplined capital spending.

The DRES will participate in helping to shape the strategic direction of the company which will involve hiring and mentoring new team members to support the broader RCG vision, mission, and values.

The ideal candidate will have at least eight years of progressive commercial property/asset management experience and at least five years in a people management capacity. Strong financial skills, proven success in leasing as well as capital project management experience is essential. Key skills include, well-developed problem solving, influencing and negotiation skills to manage and resolve issues effectively within a sophisticated environment. Professional communication and customer service skills that elevate the quality of business relationships and contribute to successful liaison with clients, contractors, and tenants.  A relevant degree (Urban Land Economics or related) or professional designation is required. A valid driver’s license and vehicle is required (parking is provided).
