We are representing a dynamic, private equity-backed manufacturing company experiencing strong growth. With a focus on operational excellence and innovation, they are seeking a talented Cost Accounting Manager to join their finance team onsite at their Long Island headquarters.
Position Overview:
The Cost Accounting Manager will lead and enhance all aspects of inventory control, cost accounting, and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong cost accounting expertise, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and be passionate about driving automation and operational efficiencies. This role requires a hands-on leader who can own and manage inventory at a detailed level and implement process improvements to prevent inventory issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and manage inventory accounting processes, ensuring accuracy and integrity of inventory records across multiple locations.
- Analyze and reconcile inventory discrepancies, and develop processes to prevent future issues.
- Prepare and analyze cost accounting reports, including variance analysis, margin analysis, and product costing.
- Partner cross-functionally with manufacturing, operations, and finance teams to provide cost insights and support business decision-making.
- Support month-end close activities related to inventory and cost accounting.
- Drive automation and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in reporting.
- Participate in the annual standard cost setting process and inventory physical counts.
- Collaborate with auditors and internal stakeholders during financial and operational audits.
- Lead and influence change management initiatives across the finance and operations teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CPA track strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong focus on cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with companies that produce tangible goods (Food & Beverage, CPG, or manufacturing industries highly preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced skills preferred).
- Experience with NetSuite ERP system strongly preferred.
- Previous experience in a private equity-backed environment is a plus.
- Public/private accounting background is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with finance and non-finance teams.
- Proven ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and thrive in a fast-paced, growing environment.
- Passion for automation and process improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrated success leading change management efforts within accounting and operations functions.
Compensation: $135,000 - $165,000
