Controller / Operational Accounting Director - Data Center / Technology

You will lead and enhance accounting operations in a high-growth, complex environment with a focus on business transformation, automation, and process improvement. Ensure efficiency, scalability, and alignment with technological advancements.
- Oversee daily financial operations, including cash management, accounts receivable, rent, prepaids, fixed assets, inventory, and reconciliations.
- Implement activity-based cost methodologies for capital-intensive projects (e.g., data centers).
- Establish capabilities to track and monitor project costs for Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) contracts.
- Identify and implement platforms such as D365, Coupa, OneStream, and Concur to streamline high-volume transaction processes.
- Work closely with Technology, Procurement, Operations, Finance, Tax, and Treasury teams in the US, UK, and offshore jurisdictions to develop scalable accounting solutions.
- Drive operational accounting vision to align with corporate financial goals.
- Maintain robust frameworks to ensure financial integrity.
- Lead initiatives focusing on automation, best practices, and operational excellence.
- Provide executive-level financial analysis to aid strategic decision-making and budget performance analysis.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous learning.
- Implement best-in-class training programs to enhance technical and leadership capabilities.
- Drive a culture of data-driven decision-making to analyze financial trends and anomalies.
- Ensure efficient, compliant financial closing processes across multiple entities.
- Oversee accuracy and proper elimination of intercompany transactions during consolidation.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and technologies, advising on best practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree and/or CPA preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive leadership in accounting, particularly in multi-entity operational accounting environments.
- Deep understanding of GAAP, internal controls, inventory management, fixed assets, and cost accounting.
- Experience with capital-intensive projects (preferably high-performance computing centers, manufacturing, utilities, or telecom).
- Proven ability to implement automation solutions and improve operational efficiency.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., D365, Blackline, OneStream, Coupa).
- Knowledge of international accounting, tax regulations, and standards (e.g., VAT, IFRS, UK GAAP) is a plus.
Compensation: $180,000 - 220,000
