Are you a mission-driven accounting professional with a passion for affordable housing? Our client— a respected leader in real estate development and management — is looking for a Senior Property Accountant to take ownership of critical financial functions for a diverse portfolio of affordable housing properties.
This is a fully on-site position with an immediate need, offering the chance to join a collaborative, impact-focused team helping to manage housing that serves NYC’s communities.
Responsibilities:
- Take the lead on billing, collections, and reconciliations for affordable housing programs, including Section 8, SCRIE/DRIE, and HAP contracts
- Monitor subsidy revenue, analyze trends, and build reporting dashboards to support property and asset management teams
- Communicate with government agencies to resolve discrepancies and ensure regulatory compliance
- Support annual budget cycles, monthly closes, and reporting for multiple properties
- Partner with site and property managers to ensure accurate tenant billing and documentation
- Conduct income certification reviews related to subsidy allocations
- Maintain accurate bank reconciliations and GL entries
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of accounting experience, 1+ years experience affordable or multifamily housing
- Proficient in Yardi (must) and skilled in Excel-based reporting
- Experienced in working with NYC subsidy programs and HUD requirements
- Clear communicator who can collaborate across teams and with external agencies
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Comfortable working on-site five days a week

Compensation: $90,000 - $110,000
