Staff Accountant

We are seeking for our client, a Staff Accountant to join a leading direct-to-consumer insurance services business. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a highly skilled team supporting the profitability and financial operations of the business. You will collaborate across departments, interact with business stakeholders, and play a key role in financial reporting and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage reconciliation of costs related to partner and digital lead generation.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure proper cost recognition and timely resolution of discrepancies.

  • Execute month-end closing processes for costs and accruals.

  • Reconcile general ledger accounts for accurate reporting.

  • Prepare journal entries and payroll-related reconciliations.

  • Handle intercompany activity for proper financial statement presentation.

  • Assist with external audit requests.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

  • Support special projects as needed and contribute positively to the team environment.

  • Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

  • 3+ years of accounting experience (general ledger, reconciliations).

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP.

  • Proficiency in Excel; NetSuite experience a plus.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Critical thinking and high attention to detail.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Polished professional with a clean background and strong communication skills.

  • Open to working 2 days per week in the Fort Lee, NJ office or Canton, OH office.

  • Bright, driven, and motivated to learn; prior audit experience is a plus.

This role reports to the Financial Controller and is part of a small, collaborative accounting team. The hiring process includes three steps, including an Excel assessment.
