Our client, a well-established financial institution dedicated to providing accessible, modern banking solutions, is seeking a Controller to oversee accounting operations and ensure the organization’s continued financial integrity. This individual will report to the Director of Accounting and Finance and support the department through a range of functions, including GAAP accounting, financial reporting, audit coordination, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all accounting operations, including maintenance of the general ledger and preparation of accurate, timely financial statements
Ensure full compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and regulatory requirements
Design, implement, and maintain strong internal controls to protect organizational assets
Lead and mentor accounting staff, promoting professional development and operational excellence
Collaborate with senior management to set goals and align financial initiatives with strategic objectives
Prepare and deliver monthly financial reports and performance analyses for leadership and the Board
Serve as a key liaison for external auditors, regulatory examiners, and financial partners
Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning
Evaluate financial performance and identify opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies
Contribute to the organization’s mission by ensuring sound financial management and member-focused outcomes
Qualifications
Minimum of five years’ experience managing an accounting department within a financial services organization; experience in a member-based institution preferred
At least five years of experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and analysis
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting (CPA required)
Proven ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and drive results
Strong organizational, analytical, and strategic planning skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
High level of discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
