Job description:
We are seeking an experienced HR and Operations Manager to oversee and coordinate our organization's day-to-day operations and human resources. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth operations, HR management, and implementing strategies to meet business objectives.
Roles & responsibilities:
HR
- Enhance the organization’s human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices.
- Maintain the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
- Support organization staff by establishing a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program; counseling managers on candidate selection; conducting and analyzing exit interviews; and recommending changes.
- Prepare employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation and training programs including all safety training
- Manage a pay plan by conducting periodic pay surveys; scheduling and conducting job evaluations; preparing pay budgets; monitoring and scheduling individual pay actions; and recommending, planning, and implementing pay structure revisions.
- Ensure planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; and counseling employees and supervisors.
- Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements, conducting investigations, maintaining records, and representing the organization at hearings.
- Enforce management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
- Retain historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system and keeping past and current records.
- Cultivate professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Complete human resource operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees and following up on work results.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Operations
- Maintain constant communication with managers, staff, and vendors to ensure proper operations of the company
- Oversee time-clock ensuring accuracy and efficient processes
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols
- Increase the efficiency of existing processes and procedures to enhance the company’s internal capacity
- Oversee warehouse management and purchase order process
- Lead, motivate, and support a small team within a time-sensitive and demanding environment, including career development plans for direct reports and problem resolution
- Manage data collection for the updating of metrics to achieve productivity targets, reduce cost per unit, eliminate errors, and deliver excellent customer service
- Partner with cross-functional teams to improve proprietary tools and systems
- Work closely with legal and safety to ensure that activities remain compliant
- Oversee materials and inventory
Required skills and qualifications:
- 5+ years of proven success in an operations management role with an emphasis on human resources, preferably in a warehouse setting.
- Strong understanding of national laws related to HR & Safety & Payroll labor laws in California.
- Excellent ability to delegate responsibilities while maintaining organizational control of operations and customer service.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and an ethical mindset; strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Knowledge of business productivity software and an aptitude for learning new applications.
Preferred skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in operations management, human resources, business administration, or related field
- Working knowledge of management software programs, including SAP, QuickBooks, and Paylocity Payroll.
- Strong IT skills, including database development.
