Job Function:
As an Employment Specialist, your role is to foster individual success by understanding each participant’s interests, skills, strengths, and any perceived barriers to employment. Your key responsibilities will include:
Developing and implementing innovative job development strategies beyond traditional methods like newspapers and the Internet.
Creating personalized plans to help participants achieve self-sufficiency and job success.
Submitting required reports and maintaining a database of active and potential employers.
Working collaboratively with participants, their DVR counselors, and support teams to secure community employment.
Coordinating with external resources when needed to address issues beyond DVR services.
Ensuring compliance with DVR technical specifications, verifying current authorizations from funding sources, and handling monthly billing and progress reports.
Basic Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities.
An associate’s degree in human services is preferred but not required.
Valid Driver’s License.
Familiarity with the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation regulations is a plus.
