Title: COMSEC Policy Analyst 

Qualifiers:

Active Top Secret Clearance

Able to work 100% onsite at Fort Belvoir

Prior military service (Army specifically) as Enlisted, Warrant Officer or Officer 

Experience / knowledge of Army regulations and standards, including AR 25-2, AR 380-40 and AR 710-2

Experience drafting, interpretation and implementation of COMSEC policies

Experience briefing senior level officials

Program Description:

The ACyS Program (Army Cybersecurity Program) goal is to integrate cross Army Cybersecurity initiatives to modernize the Army’s approach to Security at large. This organization concerns itself with Enterprise implementations of technologies and policies that provide core cybersecurity services down to the tactical edge. This Team will champion and chair efforts around PKI, Enterprise ICAM, Zero Trust, RMF, and Cybersecurity for the Army, representing the OCIO and DCS G6.

Communications Security (COMSEC) Modernization and Implementation Support – The support is used to modernize the COMSEC components that will provide the Warfighters and Army decision makers with assurance and trust in the authenticity, confidentiality, integrity, and availability of National Security Systems (NSS) and National Security Information (NSI). We support the Government in efforts to apply cybersecurity technologies to enable a secure Army-wide enterprise capability that supports all joint, intra-Army interoperability, performance requirements, and to transform the Army’s cryptographic inventory into an agile, scalable, and remotely upgradeable state. Our team helps drive modular, flexible, and programmable/re-programmable cryptographic solutions and technologies that will expand with the network while adapting to ever-evolving threats and adversaries over the next 20 years.

COMSEC Policy Analyst Job Description

  • Strong understanding of COMSEC (Communications Security) components, including encryption and decryption methods, key management, and secure communication protocols.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity technologies and best practices for securing National Security Systems (NSS) and National Security Information (NSI).
  • Experience in modernizing COMSEC components to meet current and future security requirements and standards.
  • Ability to assist the Government in efforts to apply cybersecurity technologies to enable a secure Army-wide enterprise capability that supports all joint, intra-Army interoperability, performance requirements, and to transform the Army’s cryptographic inventory into an agile, scalable, and remotely upgradeable state.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards, such as National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publications, Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS), and NSA/CSS Policy Manual 3-16.
  • Experience in working with Army decision makers and Warfighters to understand their needs and requirements for secure communication systems.
  • Ability to design and implement secure communication systems that provide assurance and trust in the authenticity, confidentiality, integrity, and availability of NSS and NSI.
  • Experience in testing and evaluating the effectiveness of secure communication systems, including vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders, including Government personnel, other contractors, and vendors, to ensure successful implementation of secure communication systems.
  • Ability to stay up-to-date with the latest developments and best practices in cybersecurity and COMSEC to continuously improve the organization's security capabilities.

     

    This is a great opportunity to get into the Policy side of COMSEC. This position deals with COMSEC policy changes that relate to the warfighter and will impact warfighters directly. You will interact with 3-stars daily and perform day to day administration of COMSEC policy, policy writing, creating PowerPoint presentations, making changes to COMSEC processes and disseminating these changes throughout the Army CIO and G6.


    Requirements

  • Must hold a Top Secret Clearance.
  • Must have DoD experience
  • Must have COMSEC policy experience
  • Army service (as Enlisted, Warrant Officer, Officer) 
  • Experience briefing 2- or 3-star and SES level government or military officials.
