BI Developer / Engineer

We are seeking an experienced BI Developer / Engineer to design, develop, and deploy business intelligence (BI) solutions that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. In this role, you will collaborate with business and technical teams to translate data into actionable insights by building data models, reports, and dashboards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in BI development, data integration, and analytics tools, with a passion for working with data to improve business operations and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. BI Solution Design and Development:

    • Design and develop BI solutions, including data models, reports, dashboards, and interactive visualizations, using BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
    • Build and maintain data pipelines that support BI reporting and analytics, ensuring data is structured for effective analysis and decision-making.
    • Collaborate with business users to understand reporting needs and deliver customized BI solutions to meet those needs.
  2. Data Integration and ETL:

    • Develop and optimize ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to integrate data from multiple sources into BI systems.
    • Work with data engineers to ensure seamless data integration and maintain data quality across different systems.
    • Ensure data is accurate, complete, and accessible for analysis by building robust data models and transformations.
  3. Reporting and Data Analysis:

    • Create and manage interactive dashboards, visualizations, and reports that provide actionable insights and performance metrics for business users.
    • Ensure that BI solutions align with organizational goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).
    • Develop ad-hoc queries and reports to support business analysis and decision-making.
  4. Optimization and Performance Tuning:

    • Optimize the performance of BI systems by tuning queries, improving data models, and refining ETL processes.
    • Monitor and troubleshoot BI system performance, resolving any issues to ensure reliability and accuracy.
    • Implement data governance and best practices in BI development to ensure data security, integrity, and compliance.
  5. Collaboration and Support:

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, data engineers, and IT, to gather requirements and implement BI solutions that align with business needs.
    • Provide ongoing support and training to business users on BI tools, reports, and dashboards.
    • Assist business teams with troubleshooting and optimizing their use of BI systems.
  6. Continuous Improvement:

    • Stay up-to-date with the latest BI tools, technologies, and industry best practices.
    • Recommend and implement new BI solutions and features to improve data access, analysis, and decision-making across the organization.
    • Contribute to the enhancement of BI architecture, frameworks, and methodologies.

Qualifications:

  1. Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
    • 4-8 years of experience as a BI Developer, BI Engineer, or a similar role focused on BI solutions and analytics.
    • Strong experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar platforms.
    • Proficiency in SQL and experience with data integration, data modeling, and ETL processes.
  2. Technical Skills:

    • Experience with data visualization, reporting, and analytics development.
    • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts, including star/snowflake schemas and dimensional modeling.
    • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and big data technologies is a plus.
    • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, R) is a plus.
    • Familiarity with databases and data warehousing concepts (e.g., SQL Server, Snowflake, Redshift, etc.).
  3. Knowledge and Competencies:

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • In-depth knowledge of business intelligence methodologies and best practices.
    • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
    • Knowledge of data governance, security, and privacy policies related to BI systems.
  4. Soft Skills:

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders.
    • Adaptability and the ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in BI tools (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Power BI, Tableau Certification).
  • Experience working in an Agile environment or with Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with advanced analytics, machine learning models, or AI-driven BI solutions.
