OPERATIONS SUPERINTENDENT – TERMINAL
Position: Operations Superintendent - Terminal (Cryogenic Storage and NGL Loading Terminal)
Division / Department: Operations & Maintenance (OM) / Midstream (MID) / Gas Conditioning Plant (PGCP)
Location: Prestea, Western Region, Ghana (West Africa)
Report Directly to: Plant Manager
Subordinate: Shift Charge Engineers (4), Operations Engineers (4), Operations Mechanics (4)
Designation Level: Functional Head
OBJECTIVE: The Operations Superintendent will be responsible for assisting the Plant Manager in overseeing all aspects of the gas processing plant terminal's operations. The Operations Superintendent will ensure the proper storage and timely delivery of natural gas liquids (propane, butane, etc.) to clients while ensuring the highest standards of safety, environmental responsibility, and operational efficiency. This role is pivotal in overseeing the overall terminal planning and strategy analysis.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operational Management: Provide strong leadership to the Operations team, oversee the day-to-day operations of the terminal facilities, and assist the Plant Manager to develop a SOP to ensure that the terminal operates efficiently and safely.
- Safety & Compliance: Establish and enforce safety protocols, operating procedures, and environmental regulations to maintain a safe and compliant facility.
- Process Optimization: Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement, energy efficiency, and cost reduction.
- Budget and Financial Management: Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and prepare financial reports to support the terminal’s operations and ensure that financial goals are met.
- Quality Control: Monitor and ensure that the quality of gas stored at the terminal and transported out of the terminal meets specified industry standards and requirements.
- Emergency Response: Develop and maintain emergency response plans and ensure all staff are trained for effective response to incidents.
- Logistics and Planning: Plan and coordinate the transportation of gas from the terminal to customers and to the Takoradi Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) Terminal for export.
- Reporting: Support the Plant Manager to prepare regular reports for senior management and clients, detailing daily, weekly, and monthly terminal performance, safety, and compliance metrics.
ENGINEERING, PROCUREMENT & CONSTRUCTION (EPC)
QUALIFICATIONS
- BSc in Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Petrochemical Engineering or any other related engineering disciplines.
- Master in Engineering, Business, or Management is a plus.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 8+ years of experience and competence in midstream and downstream management, distribution, and operations.
- A minimum of 6+ years of post-qualification experience in the oil & gas industry, specifically at a gas processing and storage plant.
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting skills.
- Deep understanding of key supply chain principles. Full understanding of the global best practices and value chain functioning of the oil & gas sector.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants, including Process Safety Management, OSHA regulations, EPA regulations, EEOC guidelines, and other federal and local requirements.
- Familiarity with Instrumentation and Industrial Automation, Supervision Systems (SCADA and HMI), PLC-PAC programming, and industrial networks.
- Full understanding of the global best practices and value chain functioning of the oil & gas sector.

Compensation: $3,500 - $5,500 USD - DOE
