Duties: We are looking for a Researcher with expertise in User Studies and Cognitive Neuroscience to join our Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) team for a 6 months contract on-site in Menlo Park, CA. In this role, you would work closely with our team of scientists and engineers to design and execute the full cycle of behavioral and neuroscience experiments, and communicate study outcomes with actionable items and insights. Our team works on developing BCI technologies intended for use in consumer electronic products. Our team members will have opportunities to collaborate with researchers at top rated academic institutions and publish in peer-reviewed journals. Our projects take advantage of internal engineering resources (i.e., mechanical, electrical, optical, and software) to develop neural interface technologies not available commercially.


Work with our team of scientists and engineers to design and execute experiments involving the use of novel neural interface technologies. Design study protocol, get study approval, recruit subjects, coordinate user testing sessions, collect informed consent, collect and safeguard user data, analyze data and report study results with actionable items and insights.

Generate and maintain documentation of experimental protocols and secure approval for human subject research from institutional review board and/or similar organizations.

Establish and maintain user testing facilities and equipment.


  • 2+ years experience in conducting human subjects research studies

  • Experience in neuroimaging, including experimental and analytical design

  • Experience in behavioral and usability studies using survey and interview methods

  • Experience programming experiments using E-Prime, Presentation, Psychtoolbox, and/or PsychoPy

  • Proficient in communicating study results with actionable items and insights

  • Interpersonal skills and ability to facilitate cross-group and cross-culture collaboration

  • Able to obtain work authorization in the US beginning in 2019


Education: Masters degree in neuroscience, cognitive science, experimental psychology or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in MATLAB, Python and C++

Strong understanding of the cognitive neuroscience of motor control and/or speech production
